Olivia Breleur
Olivia Maëlle Breleur (1986, Martinique) grew up in the Caribbean listening to the conversations of her father, artist Ernest Breleur, Patrick Chamoiseau, and Édouard Glissant. She set up and ran the Maëlle Galerie in Paris from 2012 to 2023, in the aim of creating a contemporaneity out of a Creole logic. She organized over 40 exhibitions and took part in 11 international art fairs, including Swab (ES), Akaa & Art Paris (FR), ZsONAMACO (MX), and Untitled (US). From 2016 to 2021, Olivia was a jury member and intervened in various schools, including EAC, ESA, University of Tours (FR) and IRAVM (Martinique). In 2017, she was Member of the French national arts school competition Grand Jury (La Convocation). In 2018, Olivia was co-artistic director of the exhibition Recto-Verso, supporting Secours Populaire non-profit org., at the Fondation Vuitton, Paris (FR). The same year, she was a member of the Biennale de l’image tangible Jury in Paris. She also took part in the “Archipel France Cultures plurielles, enjeux et représentativité” conference at the French National Assembly. Her work as an exhibition curator (including at Atrium, El Centro Léon…) gives her the freedom to elaborate her contemporary art vision.
