Federica Matta
Multifaceted Franco-Chilean artist, Federica Matta travels according to her creations, deploying from city to city dreamlike, colorful, and playful spaces that invite to another way of being together. Visual artist, painter, and sculptor, she was born in Paris (FR). At the age of 15, she went to study in Martinique, at the IME, a school founded by the writer Édouard Glissant. Since the 1990s, she has been developing her concept of “urban acupuncture”, where art, urbanism, poetry and history intertwine. In this way, monumental sculptures are born which through form and color, revive the memories and imaginations of the place. Drawing on the wealth of his roots and encounters, her voluminous sculptures are now present around the world. While her work combining painting, drawing and sculpture dialogue with the energy of the territories and their inhabitants, her books and paintings take us to other forms of meditation.
